Agriculture supply business hopes to open March 16

Another new business will open its doors in New Castle March 16, giving the area more agricultural options: seed, fertilizer, and crop protection.

Pinnacle Agriculture Distribution, Inc. has announced plans to do business as Providence Agriculture at 1700 Troy Avenue, in the former Hoosier Steel building.

“We provide crop protection and fertilizer products as well as seed products to Henry County area farmers,” location manager David Cline said. Other services include field scouting, mapping, record keeping and related recommendations.

Cline, a Lewisville area resident who has more than 15 years experience in ag retail sales and sales management, noted that while the new store won’t sell implements, it will provide application services.

“We offer custom services for applying fertilizer and crop protection products, but we won’t be selling equipment,” he said.

Providence Agriculture is expected to open its doors to the public March 16 and Cline said the company is happy to be here.

“We’re really excited to have the opportunity to bring these products and services to the area and give farmers another choice for their purchasing needs,” he said.

New Castle-Henry County Chamber of Commerce Missy Modesitt is pleased to see a new business locating in New Castle.

“I think it is very exciting for our agriculturally-based county to have such close access to the critical products and services these very businesses depend upon. Having a retail operation such as Providence Ag locate in the Troy Avenue Industrial Park may make others take note of what this area has to offer. It is a convenient location for the customers it will serve,” she said.

In addition to Cline, the local start-up team at Providence Agriculture includes sales representatives Jared Glunt and Brett Osting. Like Cline, both have extensive ag retail backgrounds.

When operational, Providence Agriculture will be open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Parent company Pinnacle Agriculture Distribution, founded in 1953, does business under various names in 26 states.
