Vandalia Range and Armory seals the deal

Vandalia Range & Armory sealed the deal Friday on a 5.7 acre parcel of land near the Indiana 3 and I-70 interchange and will soon build a 31,000 square-foot indoor handgun and rifle range there.Doug Hague, owner of Vandalia Range & Armory, said he expects to begin construction as soon as possible, perhaps as early as the first quarter of 2015.

If all goes as planned, the new business will be operational shortly thereafter.

“It will depend in part on the resources available to us as far as personnel in the area is concerned. We like to hire local when we can,” Hague said.

Hague said he is looking forward to doing business in Henry County.

“I’ve been impressed with the area. The welcome we’ve received has been very warm and we expect to do well there,” he said.

The Ohio-based company website states “Vandalia Range and Armory is a clean, modern, indoor shooting facility with classrooms and observation areas located inside a full service retail firearms store. We provide a fun, family friendly environment dedicated to providing a pleasurable shooting experience for everyone from novice to experienced shooters.”

The company is family owned and was established in 2006. The site for construction is where a Denny’s restaurant was formerly located.
